What are the prospects of Indian National Congress during the next general elections that may happen any time before May 2014? The political fortunes of the Congress are undoubtedly linked to the political fortunes of its chief Sonia Gandhi who had started calling the shots in her capacity as a de-facto Prime Minister of the country following the party’s victory in 2004 General Elections.
Since the examination of the natal chart of a person is the best way of knowing the prospects, growth or decay, of an organization or institution headed by him or her, let us examine the birth chart of Sonia Gandhi to asses the prospects of her political party in the coming days.
In the General Elections of May 2004, Congress was catapulted to the echelons of political power along with its allies thanks to the Mercury – Mars period of Sonia Gandhi at the time of elections. Energy planet Mars is the Yogakaraka planet 1 for the Cancer ascendant as it is the lord of 5th and 10th houses and though situated in the sixth house, it gains immense power to its natural strength in the natal chart and presence in Sagittarius, the positive sign of Jupiter.
The main period of Mercury also favoured her political fortunes as the planet was causing a powerful Vipareeta Raja Yoga. Mercury, as the lord of 3rd and 12th houses, has gone to 3rd place from the original 3rd house and to the 6th place from the original 12th house resulting in the Vipareet Raja Yoga. With the combination of the Mercury main period representing the Vipareet Raja Yoga and the Mars sub period representing the Yogakaraka character, Sonia was able to catapult her party to the pinnacles of power in the 2004 elections. The after affects of that period continued in 2009 also bringing her Congress party to power at the Centre along with its allies.
Sonia Gandhi’s main period of Mercury was over on Aug 23, 2012 and she is now running the Ketu- Venus period since Jan 18, 2013. This period will end on March 18, 2014 to be followed by Ketu-Sun period lasting till July 27, 2014.
